Footlights! Quartet of Nations, Region
31 Competition.
Footlights
formed in
2007 with a mixture of experienced and novice barbershop singers.
We all met as members of County Connection Harmony Chorus who rehearse in Cambridge - hence the name 'Footlights' which pays tribute to all the other performing talent in this great city! Individually, the members of Footlights quartet have just about nothing in common - apart from our love of barbershop singing and the tendency to make one another laugh! Bass – Barbara Green It feels like I've been singing
barbershop forever - but its actually about 20 years, joining Champagne
Cornwall in the 1980s, before moving to East Anglia to get
married to Ken in 2000 To earn a crust I manage a GP
practice in the Fens, filling in any spare time with editing my village Bari
– Hilary Allen
My first experience of singing was in my church choir at the age of eight, and I've sung in assorted choirs on and off since then. None of this prepared me for the delights of barbershop, which I discovered in 2005. Singing with Footlights Quartet is brilliant and has opened up a new world of friends and fun that my other favourite hobby (gardening) never did! Lead
–Samantha Todd I
grew up with barbershop, and always loved listening to
the quartet my mum belonged to whilst they sung into the early hours of
the morning. Now I'm completely hooked -
I
just
can’t understand why I didn't
do it sooner! I’m married to Chris, who is so very supportive. We have a 4yr old daughter called Bethan, who is often singing the songs I'm learning. A new barbershop singer in the making? Tenor
– Fiona
McGlashan
I found my way into barbershop and the delights of singing in chorus and quartet about 3 years ago. Singing has alway been an interest but it's taken a back seat to sports - squash, badminton and lately golf. I'm now to be heard singing my way around the golf course whether my playing companions like it or not. My partner, Paul prefers AC/DC to barbershop but he's slowly coming round!!
