Footlights!

Our Quartet 'FOOTLIGHTS' competed for the first time at this year's
Quartet of Nations,  Region 31 Competition.

This took place at Symphony Hall in Birmingham May 2008.

Tenor – Fiona McGlashan

About 3 years ago a friend saw an advert in a local paper ‘Barbershop singers needed’ – and I haven’t    looked back! A keen golfer I’m often to be heard, singing my way round 18 holes whether my playing partners like it or not!

Bass – Barbara Green

I sang with Champagne Cornwall Chorus and White Gold quartet in the early 1990s, before moving
to East Anglia in July 2000.  After singing with a "proper" choir for a while I found that nothing
compares with barbershop, so joined County Connection in January 2006.  I have two grown up children and when I married Ken in 2002 (yes, Barbie & Ken!) inherited four more, plus twelve grandchildren
and three great grandchildren.  Hobbies?  You must be joking!

Lead –Samantha Todd

I joined County Connection back in September 2005, after being asked to sing Baritone in quartet with my mum (Fran Pocock) only a few months before.  I grew up with barbershop, and always loved listening to the quartet my mum belonged to.   Now I'm completely hooked; I just can’t understand why I never joined sooner!!  I’m married to Chris, who is so supportive in my new hobby, and we have a 3yr old daughter called Bethan, who constantly asks me every evening “are you going singing again, mummy?”

Bari – Hilary Allen

My first experience of singing was in my church choir (got me out of Sunday school lessons) and I've
sung in assorted choirs on and off since then. None of this prepared me for the delights of barbershop, which I found my way into in 2005. My offspring are in their early twenties and have nearly left home,
so I am free to enjoy my Playgroup work with much smaller children - who all have homes of their own!
